What is LUMECCA-I?

Lumecca Intense Pulsed Light treatment (IPL) works to greatly reduce the inflammatory process of dry eye by closing off abnormal superficial blood vessels that cause inflammation in and around our eyes. IPL is used to treat inflammatory dry eye, Meibomian Gland Dysfunction, ocular rosacea, styes and chalazions, and greatly reduces Demodex and bacteria around the eyes.

What is FORMA-I?

Forma Radiofrequency treatment (RF) uses low energy bipolar radiofrequency to generate heat at the precise layer of skin to target the eyelid’s natural oil glands. The heat recruits white blood cells, stimulates collagen formation, and aids in unclogging the oil glands. Typically, RF is followed by gland expression. Intelligent temperature control ensures the right temperature is always achieved.

What can I expect?

All treatments are performed right in the office. As a result, there is no anesthesia, no incisions, and no downtime associated with these procedures.

Lumecca treatments of the skin around the eye feel like a light snap of an elastic band. Lumecca-I is a smaller handpiece for the delicate areas of the eyelids.

Forma-I treatments use a small handpiece and a soothing gel to glide around the lids. It feels like a warm stone massage.

Most patients find these treatments very comfortable. Redness and slight warming of the skin are normal after treatment and usually subside within an hour.

Better than drugs

Lay off the drops! What better way to treat dry eye than to treat the source? Pharmaceuticals and over-the-counter drops help to treat symptoms of dry eye. Envision treats the source of inflammatory dry eye. Most patients are able to reduce or eliminate the need for drops.

Reverse aging

IPL and RF treatments reverse the signs of aging by stimulating collagen production to smooth wrinkles and eliminate dark spots for younger looking eyes. Both IPL and RF are FDA approved to reduce fine lines, wrinkles and sunspots.

How safe are these treatments?

These treatments are recommended for patients who are seeking non-invasive procedures to address their symptoms. The small size applicators allow for treatment in small and delicate areas. These are very safe and effective procedures that can be used on almost every skin type and tone. This technology has been used by dermatology and esthetics for over 15 years.

How many sessions are recommended?

Like most things, the treatment for dry eye is not one-and-done. Your provider will recommend the ideal number of sessions to be performed based on your personal condition, goals, and response to treatment. It is common to need 3 to 4 treatments to achieve optimal results. IPL and RF can be repeated as many times as necessary.

What kind of post-procedure care is recommended?

Most patients do not experience any side effects. Redness of the skin typically subsides within an hour. There is no recovery period or downtime associated with these procedures.
